Back to normal

Thank you to everyone for the comments and congradulations -- we are VERY happy.

Ok, life is settling down now. I do have some stories about the last weekends race posted. They are posted late, but are mainly for my records.

Life is going good with the new addition to the family. Faith is VERY healthy and mom has recovered amazingly well.

And big brother is awesome. He is really great with his sissy. He has helped a lot to make the addition to the family a very smooth transition. Being almost 20 months old, and previously the only child, we expected some jelously and stuff. But there is none and he cares and worries about sissy alot.

So, now we can get back to normal. I will be working on the page and some stories over the next week.

Past Weekend Race Coverage

I feel a need to apologize to the readers of this blog that are interested in Ryan Newman coverage.  I have not been on here for a little while due to a SEVERE sinus infection.  This little booger had me knocked out.  I was in a lot of pain in both my sinus and my teeth.  Unbelievable pain really.  I have had sinus infections before, but nothing like this.

I missed all the postings for Ryan's Practice and Qualifying times (although the times are available on the site - just no postings).  I missed the race.  I did see some of it here and there, but overall I missed it.

But I am feeling 85% better now.  Which means I feel great.

Next weekend's coverage may be spotty at best also.  My daughter is due come out of Mama on Sunday - Homestead-Miami weekend.  So, hopefully she is ready to come join us before Sunday.  Jeni, my fiance, is ready now.  And to be honest I am ready to.

Faith Ann is (will be) her name and we are VERY excited.

Anyway, I will get some stories posted about this weekends race and Ryan Newmans performance. About all that I do know is that that Jimmie Johnson won (again) and that Ryan Newman finished 5th.  Not bad, 4 of his last 6 races have been top 5 finishes.  Maybe a preview for next season?  In fact after looking at the numbers, if Newman did not have Engine problems or an accident during these last ten races (The Chase), then he has finished 9th, 5th, 2nd, 5th and 5th.  Not to shabby. We are 9 races into the Chase with 1 more race left on the schedule for the year.  So that means Ryan had 4 engine or accident problems.  Actually it is 2 a piece.  Of the 2 accidents the one that sticks out in my mind was Lowes.  He had the lead with a couple laps to go and blew a tire.  GRRRRR.

Anyway, I will be catching up on things this week.

Thank You Fellow Ryan Newman Fans and Visitors

I just wanted to say thanks to the all the people that visit this blog.

I know I just repost a lot of news articles here, but I do also post some original stuff. The main purpose of me starting this blog was just to get information about Ryan Newman out there......in one place. I got tired of going here and there looking for information and news about Ryan Newman. So I decided to start my own blog so that I could put all that information in one location.

Well, I still have to go to all of those other places to get the news, then back to here to repost it. So I have actually created more work for myself. Oh well, I am having fun doing it, learning alot and learning alot of programming "stuff".

Anyway, recently I have recieved some very nice emails complimenting me on this blog and how nice it is to find all this information about Ryan Newman in one place. Well, thank you, it was/is my hope to bring as much info here as I can.

I am hoping during the off-season, during the freezing cold of winter, to work on "sprucing" the site up. I think it is a little "clunky" and need to be dressed it up.

But thanks again for the nice emails. I appreciate it and like reading them to my fiance.....who by the way could go absolutely nuts with me working on this all the time. And if it isn't this site, then it is some new related project that I am working on. Anyway she is great.

And I am very lucky...she is a NASCAR fan and since meeting me has become a Ryan Newman fan...or at least like to help me keep up on him.

Thank again,
Mike

Newest Ryan Newman Fan / NASCAR Fan On The Way - It's a Girl

I don't post much personal stuff on here, but I am very excited.

My girlfriend and I found out a couple of months ago that she was pregnant. We are both very excited and plan on getting married next summer - so I guess she is my fiance.

We found out on Thursday that we are having a girl. We are both very excited!!! We were both leaning towards wanting a boy for a couple of minor reasons, but the ultrasound tech said it was a girl and I could tell Jeni wanted to cry (out of joy). I must admit I was a little choked up too for the same reason. Me and my little princess!!!

Her name will be, or is I quess Faith Ann!!

My girlfriend and her son T.J. live with me. T.J. is one reason we were "leaning" towards wanting a boy. He is currently 14 months old and my brother and I were almost exactly 2 years apart from each other (me being the oldest) and grew up being best friends. The other minor reason for me wanting a boy is that my family name ends with me (that might actually be a good thing..hahahah). But we plan on going for more, so maybe next time...or the time after...or the time......wait....we will have to quit sometime!!!!

But a little girl. WOW. I told my Jeni that she is definetly going to have to be the stong hand with Faith. I just can't imagine my little girl looking up at me and me having to punish her!! Now T.J. (I consider him mine, and he really only knows me.....I am dad) I can punish. Another boy.....I can punish.......but my little princess?? WOW!

Anyway's, thanks for reading.......I (we) am SO EXITED I can barely contain myself.

So, even at 14 months, T.J. will get "engrossed" with the cars on T.V. on Sundays. So I am hoping that Faith will be the same way.

Jeni has already informed me that Faith IS NOT coming home from the hospital in a NASCAR outfit. Oh well, I win some of the fights...maybe :)

Mike, Jeni, T.J. and Faith.

Going On Vacation

I will be heading out on vacation this week and into next week. I am going to Virginia to visit my Dad, stepmom, sister and sisters kids. My brother is also going to be coming into town so I get to see him as well.

Yes I will be in Virginia and yes I will be 2 short hours from Richmond. But I won't be able to make the race unfortunatly. That really bums me out but I am excited about taking some vacation and seeing my family. I will however be watching the race but we will see how well that goes over with me being the ONLY NASACR fan in my family. At least I will have my girlfriend watching with me, she is a NASCAR fan. In fact when we met I told her that I was a NASCAR fanatic and she thought that was cool and told me she was a fan also. She laughed the other day and told me she did not realize how much of a fanatic I was until recently

My coverage this week and into next week will be hit and miss due to the vacation and depending on how ofter my girlfriend lets me fire up the lap top :) . I do have some "stuff" done already and am using Email Scheduler in order to make sure some of those things go out automatically.

Anyway, I will hopefully bring you the same amount of Ryan Newman news as usual.

Good luck to Ryan Newman and his #12 Alltel Dodge NASCAR Nextel Cup Team at Richmond International Speedway this weekend.

Updated Ryan Newman Stats Table On My Page

I have updated my stats table for Ryan Newman and also added pic/positions of all of Ryan Newman's teammates. Please take a look at my blog and let me know what you think.

What do you think of the STATS table. To much? Not enough? It is kind of sad all the "0's" in the boxes.

Also I have added all the pics/positions of Newman's team members on the right hand side...just scroll down a little.

Let me know what you think of the blog as a whole. I would appreciate any input you may have. Good or bad. I am always open to praise/criticism

Thank You,
Mike Pratt

Please Take A Look At My Ryan Newman Blog

Hi,
I am looking for some feedback on my Ryan Newman #12 Alltel Dodge NASCAR Nextel Cup Site. I would appreciate any - good or bad - thoughts that you may have on it.

I just "cleaned up" my labels. They were getting messy. For instantace I had a Ryan Newman label which almost everything got filed under (along with other catagories). Well...duh...it is a Ryan Newman Fan site so why have that label.

I did create another one "RyanNewman / Team News" that I plan on using for news items about Ryan or team members that may not be "race day" or NASCAR related stories.

I do want a COT label or other ones under NASCAR news, but the NASCAR news shouldn't get real full since I am mainly concentrating on Ryan Newman.

I would love to do labels in in labels. Like for instance have "Texas Motor Speedway" and as a sub label have "Practice / Qualifying times" but I am pretty sure that is not possible unless I make a list and spend a time every week doing HTML edits/adds.

So what are your thoughts. I can't garauntee that I will listen to them but I am always open for comments and suggestions.

Also, is my site to busy or OK?

Thank You for any input that you can give me, I really appreciate it!

How I became a Ryan Newman # 12 Alltel Dodge Fan

After completing 8 years in the military, I decided to get out. My first job was in the communications field which led me to be hired by CenturyTel (on the wireless side). Two weeks after starting it was announced that Alltel was buying CenturyTel out.
When the deal was sealed in AUG 2004 (I think it was) I noticed that Alltel sponsored a NASCAR car along with a lot of other events / sports / teams. So during the NFL season while I was watching football I started flipping over to NASCAR during the commercials to check on the #12 Alltel Dodge and Ryan Newman.
Before long I was sitting on the NASCAR channel longer than just the commercials breaks for the NFL. I was getting sucked into all the strategies and pitting options. A half pound of air pressure--are you kidding me? I bet my vehicle outside right now is at least 3 or 4 pounds low. But half of a pound can make all the difference for those guys.
By the end of the NASCAR season I was really getting into it. I was watching probably 50/50 NASCAR and NFL. By the time FEB 2005 rolled around......I was ready for the DAYTONA 500! With football not starting until August, the NFL never had a chance. By August 2005 I was completely into NASCAR and a huge Ryan Newman fan.....hook, line and sinker.
Now if my Pittsburgh Steelers happen to be aired in my area, I will split up my time 70% NASCAR 30% STEELERS. Other than that, the NFL is lucky to get me at all during a NASCR race. I mean even during commercials they could cut back at anytime if something happens. I can't risk being over on the NFL if that happens. There is usually enough time to run to the restroom, grab a snack and get back to the couch. Plus I love NASCAR commercials.
I am also very lucky because my girlfriend is a big NASCAR fan! So there are NO arguments about watching it. Even her son, who turns 1 this weekend, is a fan. I know hard to believe, but if the cars go off the TV (a commercial) he sits there "jibber jabbering" and yelling until they return.
Now, I hope Ryan and his team are able to get it together before we get to far into this season.
GOOD LUCK to Ryan Newman and the #12 Alltel Dodge Team

Mike Pratt
