Newman Qualifies 4th For Richmond Busch Series Race

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 7, 2007) Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger, qualified fourth for Friday night's Emerson Radio 250 at Richmond International Raceway, making the Busch Series race the third consecutive event in which he has started in that position.

Last week at California Speedway, Newman qualified his Busch and Cup cars in the fourth position.

We have a good car and these guys have done a great job getting the car ready, Newman said after posting his 21.429-second, 125.997-mph lap. Were out here to have fun and hopefully, get this Kodak Dodge into victory lane. This is our last Busch race of the season and wed like to go out with a win.

Newman's Evening Ends Early In The Camping World 300

FONTANA, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2007) Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger, was relegated to a 31st-place finish Saturday night after his car's engine dropped a cylinder with 51 laps remaining in the Camping World 300 at California Speedway.

Newman pitted as soon as he noticed the problem to allow the Kodak Dodge team a chance to check under the hood, but when the problem wasnt visible on pit road, crew chief Matt Gimbel told Newman to take the car to the garage.

After qualifying fourth for the 150-lap event on Friday, Newmans Kodak Dodge fell back through the field once the race began. However, Newman came on the radio to reassure his team that nothing was wrong with the car.

Im just getting a feel for the car, Newman said. Maybe a tick on the free side, but I just want to see how the car feels since this is the first time Im driving it with these changes and the fresh tires. It feels OK right now.

An early caution prevented Newman from getting a good feel for his car, but when the field restarted on lap 8, Newman moved back into the top five while battling a tight condition in his Dodge from the center of the corners off.

On lap 46, Newman came down pit road for a green-flag stop. The Kodak Dodge team gave Newman four fresh tires, fuel and one round of wedge in the right rear. Kyle Busch was penalized for speeding off of pit road, so when the green-flag stops cycled through, Newman was running second. However, the car was way too loose and Newman began falling back. He stalled in the seventh spot.

A multi-car accident on lap 68 brought out the red flag one lap later for 28 minutes so track personnel could repair the SAFER barrier in turn one. When the race returned to yellow and pit road opened, Newman came in for right-side tires, fuel and three rounds down on the right-side track bar. The two-tire stop put Newman in the lead when the field restarted on lap 75.

Two fresh tires couldnt hold up against everyone elses four and Newman went backwards, again.

The car is still too free and lacks grip, he told his crew. It feels like its getting looser.

Newman and Greg Biffle were battling for sixth when Biffle spun, bringing out the race's third of six yellow flags. Newman came back down pit road during the caution period to try to tighten the car some more.

We have to get four tires, Newman told his crew.

Newman got his four tires along with fuel and two more rounds down on the right-side track bar, but when the field returned to green-flag conditions on lap 99, Newman radioed in that he was down on seven cylinders and on lap 100, Newman drove the Kodak Dodge into the garage.

Next weekend, Newman will drive the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger at Richmond International Raceway for his last NASCAR Busch Series race this season. The Emerson Radio 250 will be broadcast live by ESPN2 and MRN Radio beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Ryan Newman qualified 4th for the Busch Series Camping World 300 at California Speedway.

Ryan Newman's Finish of 28th In Food City 250 Is Misleading

Ryan Nemwan and his #12 Alltel Dodge had a great run in NASCAR's Busch Series race. Newman started 11th in the Food City 250 and ran there or higher for most of the night.

Nemwan last time taking fresh tires was on lap 78 and the team decided to go the rest of the race on those tires. Newman was looking to go 172 laps with out taking tires. And he was getting the job done.

Newman ended up leading quite a few laps. Toward the end Kasey Kane was coming on srong along with Jason Leffler and David Reutimann.

With about 10 or 12 to go Kane caught Nemwan. Kane was on alot newer tires than Newman. Newman was not about to let Kane get by him.

Kane kept trying low while Newman was running high....that's right, running high at Bristol. That was also Kanes preffered line.

Newman and Kane ended up beating and banging and Kane ended up in the wall for a little while but did not back down and got around Nemwan with 7 laps to go when Leffler and Kane had Newman in a sandwich with Kane high and Leffler Low.

As Nemwan was falling back out of that sandwich, he hit Lefflers rear quarter panel cutting his front drivers side tire sending him in the wall.

Great race for Newman, with an unfortunate finish.

I REALLY like seeing Nemwan being a little more aggressive than normal.

After the race, Newman said that he was trying to beat on Kane just enough to help him, but NOT to wreck Kane.

Kane went on to finish with the win.

I think Newman learned alot on the Bristol surface tonight and will be able to take that into the Cup race with him tommorrow night.

Busch Series - Newman To Start 11th In Food City 250

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2007) - Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, will start 11th in Friday night's Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

This is only the second time Newman has started a Busch Series race at BMS from outside the top 10. He started 15th in August 2001.

"The car is good. These guys have worked really hard and I think we'll have a good shot at winning tonight," Newman said after posting a qualifying lap of 118.966 mph, 16.129 seconds, on the half-mile track. "We're out here to have fun and to win the race, so there's no pressure on us tonight. It's just a matter of having fun."

Tonight's Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be broadcast live by ESPN2 and PRN radio beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Newman Claims 9th In Busch Series Road Race Finale

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 11, 2007) – Ryan Newman fought off a tenacious Andy Lally in the closing laps of Saturday's Zippo 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Watkins Glen International to bring his No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger home in ninth.

It was the second top-10 finish for Newman in five Busch Series races this season.

The dual between Newman and Lally erupted with less than 10 laps remaining after Newman forced his way by Denny Hamlin in turn one. Newman, who was 10th when the 82-lap race restarted on lap 73 after the fifth and final caution period, barreled off into turn one under Hamlin with seven laps remaining. Newman's Kodak Dodge slid wide and took Hamlin with it into the paved run-off area. Both kept racing and Newman completed the pass.

Newman now focused his yellow No. 12 Kodak Dodge on Lally. The dual began, and as they entered turn 11 on the 2.45-road course, Lally shoved Newman to the outside. Newman kept control of his car and continued down the frontstretch, maintaining a slim advantage over the hard charging Lally until the checkered flag.

Newman, who qualified third for the event, set himself up for a hard run down the stretch by pitting for fuel only during the third caution period that consumed laps 50-51. That left Newman 19th on the restart, but there was speculation that several cars in front of him would need fuel before the finish. With 28 laps remaining, Newman had gained six positions, and he cracked the top 10 with 21 laps to go. However, two caution flags in the final 15 laps allowed several drivers, including winner Kevin Harvick, to complete the race without pitting again.

With the exception of the third caution period, Newman ran in the top 10 for most of the race, but never made it any higher than his starting position.

Newman's next Busch Series race is Aug. 24 at Bristol Motor Speedway in the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger. In March, Newman qualified second and finished fourth in the No. 12 Kodak Dodge in the high-banked short track's Busch Series event. His next appearance in the No. 12 Kodak Dodge is Labor Day weekend at California Speedway.

Busch Series - Newman Startiing 3rd at Watkins Glen

Ok, I have not posted anything about Ryan Newman racing in the Busch series this weekend at Watkins Glen for the Zippo 200.

Newman will be starting 3rd (in about a half hour) at Watkins Glen.

This is one of Newmans few Busch series races this year. He will driving the Kodak think: Car.

Newman's teammate Kurt Busch grabbed the pole in his #139 Penske Truck Rental car.

Newman finishied 11th after he and Stewart Battle Hard In Busch Series at Darlington

Well I have only read one story on this and I did not get to see all of the Busch race, in fact it was just bits and pieces here and there. But from one story I read, Ryan Newman and his #12 Kodak Dodge really battled with Tony Stewart. They were banging each other in the corners and the straights.

Newman actually spun on the apron and Stewart had to come in for fender damage. This sent them both back quite a ways. Stewart did manage to finish 7th and Newman finished 11th.

Of course Stewart was quoted as basically saying he did not understand why Newman was doing that to him....poor innocent Tony. (Like I said, I did not see it...but....)

And Newman made the comment that tony was Turning right into him on a left turn only track.

I know who I believe. Actually, without having seen it, I bet it was just HARD racing and neither of them was going to give an inch.
