NEWMAN WORKING HARD FOR CHASE SPOT

*****************

We need a small miracle here at California and next week at Richmond!!!!

*****************

Ryan Newman will make his 10th start at California Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series and the 213th of his Cup Series career.

Newman has an average start of 11.7 and an average finish of 17.3 at California. He has one Bud Pole Award and three other top-10 starts, including a top-five in 2003. Newman has three top-10 finishes, including a career-best third-place in April 2004.

"It's getting down to the last couple of races to make it into the Chase and we need to have two more good runs in order to qualify this year," Newman said. "We're working hard on our end, but all we can do is wait and see what happens."

Newman has led three races for a total of seven laps. He has completed 2,035 laps of a possible 2,255 for a 90.2 percent completion rate.

Crew chief Mike Nelson and the Kodak team are taking chassis PRS-108 to California as its primary car for the Sharp AQUOS 500. It was raced at Chicago in July and at Michigan in August. The backup car is PRS-071, which was raced at Charlotte in May and Michigan in June.
