Newman Qualifies 4th For California Busch Series Race

FONTANA, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2007) Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger, will start fourth in Saturday night¿s Camping World 300, matching his grid position for Sunday's Sharp AQUOS 500 at California Speedway.

Newman¿s qualifying time of 40.076 seconds, 179.659 mph, on Friday was just over a tenth of a second slower than pole sitter Denny Hamlin's time of 39.930 seconds.

The car is pretty good right now, Newman said. We did some work on the car during practice and we weren¿t real happy with the car, but these guys have done a great job getting the car ready for Saturday¿s race and I think we're going to have a good race here tomorrow. We came close to winning last week, so we¿ll see if we can't get that win this week.

Coverage of Saturday¿s Camping World 300 from the 2-mile California Speedway will be handled by ESPN2 and MRN Radio beginning at 9:30 p.m. EDT.
