Due To Storms Ryan Newman To Start 20th In Samsung 500

Practice 1 for the NASCAR's Nextel Cup's Samsung 500 at the Texas motor Speedway was rained out after 29 minutes of practice. Qualifying was also canceled due to severe weather.

Due to the weather NASCAR will base the qualifying on owner points. So Ryan Newman and the Alltel Dodge Team will start 20th in the field for the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Newman did good in the little bit of practice that they got here on Friday afternoon....all 29 minutes of it. He posted a speed of 189.573 mph with a time of 28.485. This got him the 11th fastest practice time only -0.126 behind the leader Kyle Busch.

Only the top 5 speeds for the practice broke 190 mph. 1. Kyle Busch 2. Casey Mears 3. David Stremme 4. Tony Stewart 5. Martin Truex Jr.

INTERESTING NOTE - Due to the qualifying order being based on owner points, Michael Waltrip will miss another race. But that might have been the case with out the rain also. Waltrip had the slowest speeds of practice.
