CUP: NASCAR Midweek Notebook

LOCK & LOAD It’s time to get busy for the NASCAR Nextel Cup teams. After a rare weekend off for Easter, the series kicks it back into high gear Sunday with the running of the Samsung 500 at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway. This is a significant race on many levels. First, it begins a stretch of 31 races in 32 weekends, the only remaining off-weekend coming July 21-22. Second, it marks a return to the “old” Nextel Cup car after consecutive Car of Tomorrow races at Bristol and Martinsville.

..........NASCAR says the Nextel Cup field won't have restrictor plates fitted when they take the green flag at Texas on Sunday, but they have two days left to change their minds.
