Newman to Start 7th

Ryan Newman will start seventh in Saturday night's Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, his seventh top-10 start at the high-banked Tennessee short track.

"The car was good, but we had some problems with it in practice today,"
Newman said. "It didn't seem like any of our changes were making much of a difference, but from what I heard, a lot of teams were experiencing the same thing. We were able to pick up some speed, though, and our late qualifying draw helped as well. We're going to have a good starting position for tomorrow night's race."

The Sharpie 500 is the 24th race of the 2007 season. There are only three more left until the Chase for the Championship begins at Loudon, N.H. Newman sits 171 points out of the 12th position and needs good finishes in the next three races to make it into the 2007 Chase.

Coverage of Saturday night's Sharpie 500 from Bristol Motor Speedway will be handled by ESPN and PRN radio beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.
