Ryan Newman Racing For Wildlife - Spotlight: Projects and Events

"Krissie and I are very appreciative of Michigan Interna- tional Speedway's dedication to our first Racing for Wildlife project, which is the renovation of Mill Lake Youth Camp in the Waterloo Recreation Area about 30 minutes north of the speedway.

During our first visit to the property we saw a snapping turtle laying eggs in the sand and two swans swimming in the lake. I was able to take a little time to fish on Mill Lake from a kayak. It's a peaceful and beautiful place that I'm proud to be able to share with other families by renovating several of the cabins that were built back in the 1930s.

The Department of Natural Resources talked to us about all the educational programs they will be able to offer at Mill Lake Youth Camp once the renovations are completed. Having grown up in South Bend, Indiana--just a few hours from this recreation area--it means a lot to me to be able to launch Racing For Wildlife in Michigan with our partners the Conservation Fund and Michigan International Speedway."
